Szpilka has been established more than seventeen years ago as a hybrid of bar and cafe and 1st of June is the last day of its activity. It was perhaps the first cafe in the capital open 24/7 (during the first years it was closed in the early morning only for an hour). At the peak of the gastronomic development of northern side of Plac Trzech Krzyży it was part of gastro hub, which consisted of “Szpil-Szpul-Szpar” trio (Szpilka, Szpulka, Szparka) and Republica Latina (where now is a branch of the bank). On one of the windows you can read in Polish “Dear guests, thank you for seventeen years of common breakfasts! Wednesday is our last day of work. Szpilka Crew”. In the last months this is the second closure of the premises with such a long experience in the area of Plac Trzech Krzyży – Adler Restaurant also has gone into oblivion after twenty years of existence, however, replaced by another restaurant.
WHERE: plac Trzech Krzyży 18, Warsaw
