U Tato – Georgian restaurant in Mokotowska

Zbigniew Glinka 24 May 2017

U Tato is a Georgian restaurant that opened in March in Mokotowska street. It is located in the premises where the Trawisz restaurant was launched two years ago and later the M49 opened at the beginning of last year. The owner of the new restaurant is Tariel Maridashvili, who previously worked as a chef in Warsaw’s restaurants.

You can order here a selection of meatless appetizers like badrijani – grilled aubergine with peanut paste, tcharkhali – stewed beetroot with nuts and fresh herbs or nadugi – a slice of cow’s cheese rolled with nadugi (cooked cottage cheese) with spices. There is a good selection of mutton and beef dishes like thick soup “Tato” with mutton meatballs, kubdari – pie filled with beef and mutton meat, chanakhi – mutton stew with vegetables or kharcho – braised beef in peanut sauce. The menu features also the best known in Poland Georgian dishes, like khinkali dumplings (also in the vegetarian versions) and several types of khachapuri pies.
