Bar Gdański from Muranow opened on May 10th in Andersa street after a few months’ break, during which it underwent a thorough refurbishment. At this address the milk bar (which offered cheap dishes based mainly on dairy products) has been operating from the 1950s until last November. The new owner, Kamil Hagemajer, kept its business profile. An earlier metamorphosis, which he performed at the iconic Bar Prasowy from Marszalkowska street, may be used as a forecast for Bar Gdański’s future.
The menu of the re-activated Bar Gdański features classic items of Polish milk bars (not to confuse them with Australian milk bars) such as: cheese or jam pancakes, tomato soup with rice or dumplings, cucumber soup, chicken liver, pork chop, rice with apple, Russian dumplings, meat dumlings, cabbage and mushrooms dumplings. You can also order vegetables with Béchamel sauce or risotto with vegetables.
The opening of the bar had gathered a large number of locals – just before the 1 pm (the opening time) there was a long queue at the door waiting to enter the premises.
The bar also has a small neighbor, who from the window above the entrance followed the preparation for opening and will continue to follow the development of the situation – as you can see in our photo nothing will escape the attention of the watching cat.
