Recently, a new ebook dedicated to Polish cuisine has been released – The Polish Table by Magdalena Tomaszewska-Bolałek. The table, which is the keypoint of the book, which is not only a piece of furniture, but also culinary universe around which people sit to talk, laugh and enjoy food. We will find here among others history of Polish cuisine, information about Polish products such as bread, groats, meat, fish, cheese, honey and apples. There are also recipes for traditional Polish dishes, such as Kashubian herring, Silesian roulade or potato baba. The publication is available to download free of charge in English and Spanish. The publication’s partners are the Polish Vodka Association, the Polish Vodka Museum, the Toruń Gingerbread Museum, a branch of the District Museum in Toruń, and the Hanami publishing house.
The author, Magdalena Tomaszewska-Bolałek, is a culture expert, culinary culture scholar and head of Food Studies at the SWPS University of Social Sciences and Humanities. She researches the history and anthropology of food as well as culinary tourism and diplomacy. She has promoted Polish cuisine abroad on numerous occasions through workshops, meetings and lectures. She is the author of many publications and the recipient of various prizes, such as the Gourmand World Cookbook Awards, Prix de la Littérature Gastronomique, Diamond Cuisine Award and Magellan Awards.
