The hit of this week was an article by Olga Święcicka in NaTemat, where Warsaw Foodie was recommended in the “knowledge of the restaurants” category. Foodie R and F are slightly embarrassed that the portal is so popular after only two months since start.
NEW OPENINGS: This week, we have written about the five new locations. Owners of Goody Foody opened Teatralna – restaurant at the Syrena Theatre on Litewska Street. In the category of season openings two places are competing – Brasserie Warszawska opened by Daniel Pawelek (owner Butchery & Wine) and Sowa&Przyjaciele opened by Robert Sowa. However, not only large openings were interesting for us this week – we have also written about small new places: Art Cafe in Żoliborz and CZARNA.bar in the City Center. In the pavilions on Jana Pawła II Turkish Market was recently opened – a new shop with Turkish culinary products.
EVERGREEN: In this category, we remind you the places that are opened for years, but still popular and do not lower the quality. La Iberica, the Spanish restaurant on the right side of the Vistula River, received the prestigious title of Place of the Year from Gazeta Wyborcza in 2010, but the food is still great here, and it’s still crowded. Café Vincent was one of the first Warsaw boulangeries, it’s still is doing well, like Deli Paris in Wilanów, which was one of the first boulangeries that decided to operate outside center.
MUST EAT: Not so long ago we wrote about the opening of Casa Pablo, serving Spanish Creative Cuisine. Last week we recommended Torrijas at this place. This Spanish desert is mainly eaten during Easter in Spain, at Casa Pablo you can have it every day.
EVENT: Last week we invited you to German Embassy Open Day, which was organised because of 40years of this Embassy in Poland. As part of the celebration you could visit the Embassy and eat sausages imported from Germany served by Wurst Kiosk, croissants from the Swiss bakery, drink wine from Jung & Lecker. The second event worth your attention is Wine & Food Open Day 2012. In a large tent of 4000 m2 you will be able to taste the cuisine of six restaurants and enjoy variety of wines from around the world.
ON BLOGS: While traveling outside the city center, Restaurantica found CieKawa Cafe, which is known as an oasis in the culinary desert Bemowo. She visited also Ente Cafe in Wola. After returning to the center she found that lunch place Restro is now also opened on weekends, what was celebrated by her with a dinner at this place. Fro was in an exceptionally good mood at Froblog, she was crazy about colors and breakfasts at MiTo, she was enchanted by Thai cusine of Little Thai Gallery and by Gllery’s owner, who was folding napkins. She also checked Croatian cuisine and wine at Papalina. Nakarmiona Starecka ate the beans, which she found during “Festival of the village courtyard” in Czeremcha. Then she went to Prague and remained silent until the end of the week. Suspicions are that the stunning cuisine of Gotuje, bo lubi is responsible for her silence. Latające Talerze were invited by friends to Saska Kępa, where they tested the burgers in the Prosta Historia. Ósme smaki were stuck in Paris, and Where’s The Food remained silent.
